When I was a queer 14 year old in Albuquerque, New Mexico, getting thrown into lockers and trash cans because I grew my hair out and talked about this David Bowie guy all the time, it certainly would have been nice to at least know some totally unknowable figure that we were learning about in History would have at least picked me up and dusted off my shoulders.
